
Amazing...
Paul Salzman returns to Mississippi, decades after his last visit as a freedom rider in 1964. This fascinating documentary shows two sides of one of the most racially turbulent times in US history. The most surprising aspect is the way Salzman uses his interview w/ an active member of the Ku Klux Klan, the very same man who brutally assaulted him decades earlier. This man also happens to be the son of the convicted killer of Medgar Evers! This conversation is interwoven w/ interviews w/ Harry Belafonte, Morgan Freeman (a Mississippi resident), and survivors of several deadly assaults by the KKK. One of the best docs I've seen in quite some time, especially the (mostly) direct answers from the Klansman to Salzman's questions, and the genuine respect the two have somehow developed for each other.
